How to Cite a Set of Images or Image

Academic publications should refer to this website as www.manar-al-athar.ox.ac.uk.
In a publication, if you wish to cite either a set of images or an individual image, it is best to cite the whole set, as in the example here (rather than their URLs).

For example, for the Great Mosque in Aleppo:

www.manar-al-athar.ox.ac.uk, see Aleppo – Great Mosque

In addition, see the section below for the credit line.

In bibliographies this resource should be given as:

Manar al-Athar Digital Archive, Oxford 2013–, available at www.manar-al-athar.ox.ac.uk

Credit Line for Photograph or Drawing

The credit line for a photograph or drawing is the “name of the photographer/Manar al-Athar”, which can be seen by clicking on the thumbnail of the image, where this is given under “Credit”. This credit line must be used whenever a photograph is published. For example, for the first image of the Great Mosque in Aleppo, the credit should be: “Sean Leatherbury/Manar al-Athar”. This information is also downloaded with the photograph in the metadata (explained under Information for Users). Academic publications should refer to this website as manar-al-athar.ox.ac.uk.
Photographs are provided free, downloadable at high resolution, for teaching, research, and publication in educational or academic publications. We do not fill out forms for permissions.
(Normally publishers of printed publications will require you to provide images in “tif” format, which is why we have provided high resolution images in that format.) See “Image Formats” in Information for Users
